Whisper and Smile
Because, this might just happen despite all the noise.
15,207,678 Vaccines have been given in Canada ( 6 M in 2 weeks)
33.6 % have received at least one dose
5,740,761 vaccines given in Ontario as of yesterday
46.16% of the vaccine eligible population with one dose
116,000 doses have been administered in GWD
43.1 % of the vaccine eligible population
You can follow the status of vaccinations in our region at this link:

The number of cases/100,000 in our region is now 91. It was over 140/100,000 several weeks ago. To head back to school safely, this number needs to be around 60/100,000.

Notice on the same page that the R value is 0.9 ( under 1.0). That is awesome. Remember the R value? That means that one person infected with COVID-19 can transmit to less than one other person instead of say, 10 other people. Vaccines and public health restrictions such as wearing masks, eliminating gathering and keeping a distance of 6 feet have all acted as barriers to transmission making it difficult for the virus to spread from one person to another. When we reach 60 or 70 % vaccinated, watch that R value plummet. I am doing a happy dance when that happens. You will find me in the middle of downtown Guelph, socially distanced but dancing!
This is happening folks. Regardless of the noise, the confusion and the mis-information, it is happening. Well Done!
Yes, cases in the province are back up over 3,000 but it is the 7 day rolling average that takes into consideration the daily ups and downs and shows us what the trends are.

Check out 'New cases by date'.
The Blue line is falling.
On the same page, scroll down to ON for Ontario and look at 'New Cases Analysis by Date'. The seven day rolling average is not 3368. That Red line is definitely on the decline, coming down off that third wave. YES!
Here's how far we have come with respect to that rolling average.
April 24 4370
April 25 4094
April 26 4050
May 1 3722
May 2 3618
May 7 3368
Slow but steady but that will still win the race and just watch what happens in the next month when both phase II and Phase III folks will be invited to be vaccinated. Another happy dance will occur.....Hmmmm...somewhere in Guelph!
Some important info:
1/ Launched earlier this week, on the WDG website "Check My Pre-registration Status" tool for people who have not yet received an appointment invitation or their first dose of the vaccine. This new tool will help people check that their pre-registration was successful and ensure there are no delays to booking their vaccination appointment as soon as one is available to them. Click here: www.wdgpublichealth.ca/check-registration to check your pre-registration.
2/ On May 5, Health Canada authorized the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in children 12 to 15 years of age.
3/ To see who is currently receiving appointment invitations, visit the Appointment Booking Status page at this link: https://www.wdgpublichealth.ca/your-health/covid-19-information-public/covid-19-vaccine-information/appointment-booking-status
Everyone, from ages 12 and up can register. That's phase I, II and III. Everyone register ASAP. If you are not registered, you will not receive a vaccine appointment. Those in Phase II should get there vaccine this month. Those in Phase III should get their vaccine in June.
What that means is....WE WILL ALL BE OFFERED AND GIVEN OUR FIRST VACCINE DOSE BY THE END OF JUNE! Third happy dance somewhere in Guelph and at that point, you can all join me in the dance because restrictions will allow us to gather outside socially distanced of course.
